Four homes, 3 cats, 2 kids and a literal cross the country move later, who would have guessed that a decision to be lazy and skip out on sightseeing with the group in order to nom fish and chips and enjoy the lower UK legal drinking age in a random hotel pub would eventually lead to this crazy, wonderful life.

Happy anniversary Ryan!!! 💕💕💕 Thank you for 12 crazy and amazing years.

Success! Emma made it through her first musical! Although she was super upset when I told her she had to pretend to be 5… didn’t know there was an age minimum when I bought the tickets. Ryan was also probably super excited…. to have Emma replace him...

Woohoo – finally Friday was here and we were off to my sister’s graduation.

I’ve been lucky enough (I guess… come on, admit it – graduations gets really boring in the time period between when you see people you know walk in to pomp and circumstance to when their name is called) to be at several school graduations, but never an Art School graduation. It was definitely different, and pretty cool. Before each degree was awarded (e.g. Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting, or Photography, or Game Design, or Illustration…etc.) they had snippets of work that that graduating class did. Holy hell, the game design snippets were awesome, but sadly just concepts. (I told my sister if she put me in contact with some of the game design graduates I’d invest possibly up to $40 in bringing their games to fruition, but she claimed that wasn’t enough.)

My sister’s work didn’t make it to the big screen (pissing me off, she was WAY better than some of the stuff they showed), so I’ll give her her own shout out here.

Dear American Airlines,

You are the best!

XXX and OOOs,

Sonja

*We had about 10 minutes from when we deplaned from our first flight to when our next flight took off due to huge delays out of the Northeast (remnants of yesterday’s storm) and so I never thought our luggage would make it to Hawaii.  I couldn’t believe it when we saw all of them in baggage claim.  How did AA do it so quickly?

Get ready for picture overload

I am currently going through all my pictures from 2008 to find the perfect ones to put in my Christmas letter.  I found a bunch of pictures I liked but that aren’t going to make it into the letter, so I decided to post them here.  Please note, this is once again proof of my horrible case of ADD as I need to to a lot of things before I can leave on my trip tomorrow and none of them include uploading my 2008 pics to my blog!

*By the way, at work I write A LOT of memos (funny – I thought I became an accountant because I was better at math than writing…) and our documentation includes words such as “please note” so I am very disturbed to realize that this is now how I write outside of work.

On our cruise from / to Bermuda this past October we saw some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

But sometimes I’d get bored of taking a picture of just the sunrise / sunset and find something else to take a picture of…

Welcome to Germany!

This had to make it on to my blog. The best cheesesteak in the world – no, this is NOT an exaggeration. Pat’s in Philadelphia, I want to go back just to eat there again.

Riding the Sky Bike at the Franklin Institute Science Museum in Philadelphia. It’s a bike at the top of the museum on a tight rope that is balanced so that you can’t fall off… though they have lots of safety nets below in case something goes wrong…

Very confused over a street that’s named “13 1/2” in DC.

Bunnies!

I am the best Christmas shopper ever.  There’s going to be quite a few people crashing at my mom’s house this Christmas and she thought it would be nice if we each bought a small $10 gift for everyone else so that those out of towners (including moi!) would have gifts to open too.  So I took it upon myself to help the hubby shop by buying myself these fabulous bedroom slippers as my present from him.  They were a little over the $10 limit but I’m sure that he will agree that both the slippers and I are worth it. 🙂
