• My rival high school’s carnival (or “fair” as they call it) was tonight. I have so much work to do this weekend in addition to doing silly things I’ve pushed off… like starting/finishing my taxes… that despite the fact that I was planning to go to the fair all week, this afternoon I decided to pass and just call it an early night. Until I got in my car, looked up at the sunny skies and figured what the hell.Turns out Emma loved the fair! Bright lights, lots of people…. Totally her thing! Although she did not like being sequestered in her stroller so the evening was mostly spent with me pushing an empty stroller and my mom carrying Emma. If I had planned it a little better I probably wouldn’t have sent Emma off to day care in the colors of my Alma Mater (what with the rivalry and all). Go Buff and Blue! I have to say, their food was pretty great. I had dinner of lobster bisque and fish tacos. YUM!I did almost come to blows with my mom at the end of the night however as we sat in the kitchen munching on malasadas from the fair and she had the ridiculous notion that Iolani had better malasadas than Punahou. I may have said some key lines like, “you need to get your head examined” and “this is right (motion with right hand) and THIS is you (motion with left hand).”My rival high school’s carnival (or “fair” as they call it) was tonight.
