When I was young, Hawaii opened the Children’s Discover Center. I only remember a couple exhibits they have there (or had there at the time) but I do remember absolutely loving the center and getting so excited every time we’d go. One day a flyer came in the mail that requested donations to help fund the center. If you donated a certain amount of money (I can’t remember how much but it wasn’t an extraordinary amount… though I’m sure my mom will be correcting me if this is wrong) they offered to put your picture on the wall…. forever. I must have been 12 or so, but I was very skeptical about this “forever” comment. I was sure that over the years it would be taken down. But it was for a good cause so my parents donated to the center under my sister’s and my name and sent in pictures of us. What do you know, almost 20 years later my cousin took her young nephews and niece to the center and stumbled upon the wall. I stand corrected. Thanks Discovery Center!
